Please
join us on June 7th at the Ramada-Mall of America hotel as we
kick off the 10th annual NNL North (formerly known as the GMONNL).
NNL
FAQ's (NNL frequently asked questions):
What is the
difference between an NNL and any other contest? An NNL
is specifically designed to be a non-judged event showcasing the
models while other contests have your models scrutinized by "experts".
The main awards for our NNL are voted on by you - the viewing
public. We feel the NNL promotes a more relaxed atmosphere where
model builders of all experience levels should feel comfortable
to display their models.
Can you explain the awards?
Certainly.
• Top 10 People's Choice: the top 10 cars at the
show as voted on by the spectators and attendees.
• Best in Show-Junior: awarded to a model builder
that is age 14 or under.
• Best Competition Vehicle: this is a special honor
that is bestoyed by the RPM Model Club on the builder of the finest
racing car model at the show.
• Best Pick-Up: this is a special award given in
memory of Steve Benkovics by the members of the MCCM Model Car
Club. It is awarded to the best pick-up at the NNL.
• Model T's & A's: this is the theme award presented
by MCCM to the best Model T or Model A entered.
• Legends Award: this is a special award presented
by RPM to a model representing a driver or builder who has passed
in recent years. Examples are Ronnie Sox, Art Arfons, Lil John
Buttera, Ed Roth, and too many others to mention.
How good of
a model builder do I need to be to enter? Model builders
of all experience levels are welcome and encouraged to bring their
build models. The only thing we ask is that you limit it to model
cars, trucks and motorcycles. There are other shows in the area
that cater to military subjects and we would like you to show
your military models at venues other than the NNL North.
I'm really
proud of my model this year, will it be seen? Absolutely!
In addition to the addending individuals, your models will be
shown on our website and our NNL has been showcased in Scale Auto
Magazine for the past several years. We are extending an offer
to Model Cars Magazine to cover the event this year as well.
Are there door
prizes to be won? Definately! You will receive a raffle
ticket with your paid entry into the NNL. You will be able to
purchase additional raffle tickets throughout the event. All models
in the raffle have been donated by RPM and MCCM members. If you
bring a sealed model that you would like to donate to the raffle,
we will give you raffle tickets in exchange for your donation.
We will try to make sure that you do not win back your donated
model.
What's this
I hear about a swap meet? We have a total of 26 vendor
tables that are sold ahead of time to small companies and individuals
who wish to sell their models and model-related items at the NNL
North. There is no shortage of great deals. If you are interested
in selling your items, please contact Jim Kampmann via e-mail
at JimKampmann@gmail.com.
My spouse is
not really interested in model cars, what can I have them do?
The event is being held at the Ramada, which is only a few blocks
(walking distance) to Ikea, Mall of America, and even the Water
Park of America. The Mall of America has just opened a new Nickelodeon
theme park with new rides just in time for our NNL visitors (I
think they planned it that way).
What if I have
other questions or would just like to chat, who can I contact?
You can contact any of the RPM club members that are listed on
this website, but here are the gentlemen that will respond the
quickest to your e-mail:
• Don Stadick (dstadick@yahoo.com)
• Jim Kampmann
(JimKampmann@gmail.com)
• Clint Williams (imadodgeboy@yahoo.com)
• Bob Maderich II (robertmaderich69@hotmail.com)
What does the
layout of the room look like? I'm glad you asked! This
year's event will be much larger than previous years and we are
proud to have it all mapped out. Click on the thumbnail image
at the right for a layout of the room.
