This March meeting was "50's - 60's Nascar" which means that members are encouraged to bring models of just that... There were some great examples on the table and it really catered to a few of our stockcar enthusiasts.

|
|
|
The
3/08 meeting had 23 members and guests for this meeting.
Much of the discussions were centered around upcoming shows
that we're excited to go to. You can tell our members are
gearing up as most of the items on the show table were works-in-progress.

Meeting - 1/08 |
|
|
|
Welcome
to the New Year! The 1/08 meeting was the kickoff to our
2008 season with a lot of discussion regarding the budget,
upcoming shows, and planning for the GMONNL (which will
change names to become the NNL North). There were a number
of nice builds brought for show and tell, along with quite
a few works in progress. We also kicked off the 1/32 scale
challenge, which is due in October of this year.

Meeting (White Elephant Gift Exchange) - 12/07 |
|
|
|
The
12/07 meeting of the RPM Group was our white elephant gift
exchange. Each of the members was asked to bring a wrapped
model kit for a numbered raffle. When your number is up,
you pick a wrapped present and open it or you can steal
from another that has already opened one. Looting from other
members is highly encouraged. A good time was had by all
25 members and guests that were at the meeting. Happy Holidays!

The
11/07 meeting of the RPM Group was our club contest. All
entries must have been built within the last 12 months (since
the last club contest). We had a excellent turnout of 26
existing members. The quality of the models on the table
continues to rise each year and this year we had 47 to choose
from. Congratulations to our winners this year: Scott Harvieux
(2), Chris Vick (2), Jim Mulligan and Steve Cote.

Meeting (Out of the Closet) - 10/07 |
|
|
|
The
10/07 RPM Meeting had 25 members and 2 guests. We quickly
converted one of those guests to a paying member - welcome
aboard Chris Brown! This was also Steve Cote's official
entry into the club meetings - welcome aboard Steve! This
meeting was for our annual Out of the Closet (bring anything
that has not been shown in a while), along with a swap meet
and club raffle. Everyone's mood was great and the meeting
was a lot of fun.

Meeting - 9/07 (Midway Ford Show) |
|
|
|
The
9/07 Meeting was held at Midway Ford in Roseville, MN along
side a real car show. This was our first model car show
at a dealership and the turnout was fantastic. There was
a lot of interest generated by the model cars, and the only
ones we had to warn about not picking up the models were
the adults! many thanks to Chris and Bob for getting this
set-up.

The
7/07 RPM Meeting had 22 members including a return appearance
from Bill Read, who we haven't seen in a while. It's good
to see you back, Bill. This was the month the members were
to bring their Mustang Modified club project in for review
and judging. Of the 12 kits issued to club members, we had
14 return entries! Must be the new math.

The
2007 GMONNL was a fun and exciting event that took place
on June 9th. There were hundreds of fantastic cars along
with many vendors and lots of people to talk to. This year's
Best Competition award went to Steve Cote of Rosemount,
MN. The Legends award went to Wisconsin's own Paul Johnston.
RPM's own Andy Martin, Tom Thoren, Erik Zabel, and Jim Mulligan
walked away with Top 10 awards.

The
5/07 RPM Meeting had another large turnout for such a fine
spring day. There was some nice cars on the table especially
Scott's Ferrari which I've been waiting to see. Several
more of the Mustang Modified's were also on-hand for unveiling.
This was the last meeting before the GMONNL so much of the
meeting revolved around plans to make this NNL better than
the last.

a wonderful turnout despite the fantastic weather outside.
It was standing room only. There was a great assortment
of models on the table including drag racing, F1, modified,
Nascar, Panamericana, and even watercraft. Keep up the great
work guys!

| NNL
(Milwaukee, WI) - 2007 |
|
|
|
This
year's Milwaukee NNL had the theme Hot, Hot, Hot! - everything
with flames. There was a good representation of hot cars
on the table. Even though Clint William's Firebird had a
flame-out the night before and refused to light, we've seen
it work and it will be back at our NNL! There was a total
of 630 cars on the table by AMG's count. A nice outing that
I intend to make each year.

Meeting - 2/07 |

The
2/07 meeting of the RPM Group brought a new dynamic to the
club. We had an informative meeting and learned some new
techniques. Tim Graf gave us a wonderful demonstration on
making headers out of solder and Clint Williams followed
him with another great demonstration of creating injector
stacks out of aluminum tubing. We also some some very nice
builds on the table including our first white elephant kit
done very nicely by Chris Vick.

Hope It Don't Snow Show (Stewartville, MN) - 2/07 |
|

The
Hope It Don't Snow Show that is held each year just south
of Rochester has turned into quite an event not to be missed.
It has grown to double the size it was when I attended just
2 years ago. It is brought together by the Zumbro Valley
Scale Modelers and they have done a wonderful job of balancing
a plethora of categories within this venue. I was lucky
enough to be a judge (in the automotive section) and found
some very nice builds.

Meeting (Out of the Closet) - 10/06 |

The
10/06 meeting of the RPM Group is known as the "Out
of the Closet" meeting because we encourage each member
to bring models that they have finished that do not meet
the normal racing criteria that is promoted at the other
meetings throughout the year. In 2006, we had a record turnout
of models on the review table and a large gathering of members
and guests.

Nationals (Toledo, Ohio) - 2006 |

The
NNL Nationals in Toledo was a memorable trip for many reasons.
The show was fantastic with almost 1,000 models! The swap
was combined with a local toy show, so it was the size of
a small warehouse. Here are some of the reviews: "So
good I almost p!ssed my pants" - Ted, "The only
thing that would have made it better was if I had found
a gun" - Bob

| NNL
(Milwaukee, WI) - 2006 |
|
|
|
The
NNL Milwaukee was my initiation into the traveling freak
show that is model builders on the road. The locals took
us to every hobby shop with 25 miles and they all had the
same mysterious smell. We scored some great finds and Bob
dubbed me the King of the Swaps for my 22-kit purchase.
The show was incredible with the best dioramas that I have
seen. Definately worth a return trip.
